This original iconic chair, Icone, made of teak and cane, was created by the legendary designer Pierre Jeanneret. With A-shaped legs, a signature feature of designs by One. With its raw simplicity, it showcases the true strength of simplicity, much like many of Jeanneret's designs for the Chandigarh project. Jeanneret was commissioned by the city of Chandigarh, India, to build and design the administrative buildings of Punjab University and several private residences. They were produced between approximately 1952 and 1957. Provenance: From a private French collection of photographer Kalle Gustafsson / Galerie Maison Première. The collection has been examined by Jon Bjellerup and Ulf Brunne, renowned curators and restorers of Swedish furniture. Documentation is provided. This item has been renovated, with minor damage - normal wear due to age and use. Minor age-related damage. Cane with slight loss.
