A superb pair of solid wood benches from the early 20th century, originating from the alpine valleys of Northern Italy; they exemplify the artisanal simplicity and functional elegance of vernacular design. Each bench is made with a seat carved from a single thick board supported by sturdy beam legs, joined with the simplicity typical of rural artisanal traditions. The seats display a magnificent natural patina developed over more than a century of use: shades of amber, honey, and umber intertwine on surfaces marked by grain, age-related cracks, and signs of organic wear. The original square holes are still visible, serving as a historical testament to the manufacturing and functional life of the benches. These pieces possess a serene monumentality that integrates perfectly into contemporary interiors inspired by wabi-sabi, rustic minimalism, or eclectic collecting. Suitable as dining benches, entrance seating, or as independent sculptural elements. The benches are similar in materials and construction but differ in size: BENCH 1: width 147 X depth 25 X height 40 cm BENCH 2: width 164 X depth 25 X height 40 cm.
