Large oval dish in Limoges porcelain by Bernardaud & Cie – Art Deco

Magnificent large oval serving dish made of fine Limoges porcelain, manufactured by the prestigious house L. Bernardaud & Cie (stamped B&Co on the back). This dish dates from the Art Deco period (circa 1930) and features the authenticity label "Limoges Unique" as well as a pink commercial stamp from the time ("Tachet Quincaillerie Thiers"). It showcases a superb geometric and floral design: a navy blue and gold frieze, enhanced with delicate garlands of roses. Ideal for enhancing a festive table or for completing a family service in a retro chic and "mix and match" spirit. Very good overall condition, with no chips or cracks. Please note a very slight fading in places on the outer rim, barely visible, reflecting its history and authenticity (see photos). Dimensions: 34x26.4 cm. Weight: 1kg100g. Explanations on the stamps: B & Co / LIMOGES FRANCE (in green): This is the white trademark of Bernardaud (B & Co for Bernardaud and Company), actively used since the early 20th century. LIMOGES FRANCE UNIQUE (in green): This green stamp corresponds to the mark of the Union Porcelainière. Registered in 1929, this "Limoges Unique" label guaranteed the authenticity and quality of 100% Limoges production. TACHET / QUINCAILLERIE / THIERS (in pink): This is the commercial mark of the retailer of the time. Hardware stores and department stores in the provinces during this period often had a "Tableware" section and had luxury tableware they ordered from Limoges stamped in the name of their own shop (here, the Tachet Hardware Store located in Thiers in the Puy-de-Dôme). Thanks to the intersection of these stamps, we can precisely date the manufacture of this piece between 1929 and the 1930s/1940s. Good to know: Other pieces from this magnificent Bernardaud & Cie service (dinner plates, soup plates, dessert plates, serving dishes, and compotes) are currently available in my shop.
