Large vintage ceramic mug, also usable as a large cup or handled bowl, produced by the Gorbon Işıl company, a ceramics factory founded in Istanbul in the late 1950s by architect Rebii Gorbon. In the 1960s and 1970s, Gorbon Işıl developed a production that blended modernist design, artistic research, and ceramic craftsmanship, in a spirit close to brutalism and mid-century modern. This mug stands out for its generous shape and richly textured dark glaze. In the light, the surface reveals subtle anthracite grey reflections, almost metallic, offering a depth and presence that is very particular, far from a uniform black. The relief decoration is punctuated with celadon green, turquoise, and blue glazed inlays, combined with ochre spiral patterns typical of the 70s. The ivory-glazed interior contrasts elegantly with the exterior. A characterful object, both functional and decorative, ideal for lovers of vintage ceramics and 70s design. Information.
