Waldemar Zarachowicz, born in 1931 in Poland, studied painting in Warsaw before settling in France, where he has long been established in Paris. Style: He is characterized by abstract or semi-figurative compositions, textured organic forms, and a palette of subtle and often dissonant or contrasting colors. Here is a canvas named Echauguette, dated 2002. Oil painting on canvas with impasto. Free and very gestural construction, the forms seem to intertwine in a play of superpositions and chromatic contrasts. Subtle and highly nuanced palette of mauve gray, lavender, pink, petroleum blue, violet-brown, and yellow, punctuated by darker touches and nervous lines. The material is worked in thickness in places and reveals the artist's gesture. It gives the whole a particularly expressive presence. The work is at the border between abstraction and figuration and reflects a plastic exploration of form, movement, and color. Signed at the bottom right by his hand. Beautiful format of H93 X 74.3 X D3.
