Antique painting, oil on solid panels, representing a clergyman in a gray robe, topped with a black cape, a black hat on his head. He is facing the viewer, but his hand shows us the direction of books and in particular a musical score which could suggest that he is a man of letters or a monk who has entered the orders. On one of the books on the edge, we can distinguish the initials tu (perhaps the initials of his name!?) This one is very well painted. The character's gaze is very powerful and the painter's dexterity allows us to bring out his attentive and relaxed expression. It is not signed and it would not be unlikely that it dates from before the 19th century because it is still quite difficult to know if it is a French school or a northern school. It went through the restoration workshop of aldo paucelle in lyon for a complete cleaning, and you can see the video of it on his instagram page, restauration_de_tableaux_lyon which shows the complete cleaning with music (breathtaking!) This wooden panel was probably cut because there are two notches on the back, was it part of a larger painting, I have not yet found Condition, very good condition for the painting, the support being in very good condition also there is just at the back a small hole because probably someone had hung a small hook but which did not damage the painting at all. Size h 30 cm l 23 cm. Favor delivery by colissimo and not in lockers
