Low antique pine buffet, traditional Chinese furniture from Gansu, dated around 1930. Originating from Gansu in north-west China, from the early 20th century, where local pine was crafted using mortise and tenon joinery without nails, in a low and horizontal format. In rural homes of the Hexi corridor, narrow low buffets served as a support surface next to the kang and as auxiliary furniture in the main room. Their reduced height was compatible with the habit of living close to the ground. Constructed from solid pine using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, without nails. The case features an open compartment, two side doors, and three lower drawers, all with circular iron latch handles. The sides are made from solid side panels, without protruding feet. The top surface is a continuous horizontal plane. Details. Dimensions: Length 154.5 cm – Depth 24 cm – Height 33 cm. Style: Northwest Chinese provincial furniture.
