"Shogun" floor lamp by Mario Botta for Artemide, 1986

Italian work, 1986. H 212 X W 34 X D 31.5 cm. Lacquered steel and perforated metal diffuser. Used condition. Two rotating perforated diffusers on the same axis, characteristic black and white stripes, vertical silhouette reminiscent of stylised Japanese architecture. Designed by architect Mario Botta in 1986 for the Masters collection by Artemide, a model now held at the Metropolitan Museum in New York — a milestone of postmodernism applied to lighting. Some wear and small paint losses visible on the structure.
