The Pastoe FM04 is a characteristic vintage design armchair, designed by Cees Braakman for the Dutch furniture manufacturer Pastoe, around 1958/1959. A recognizable design from the 1950s, where a generous, curved seat shell is combined with a slender metal base. The armchair has a unique appearance: comfortable and inviting, but at the same time light and elegant in shape. The combination of the wide seat and the slender legs, slightly angled outward, makes this design so recognizable. Despite its age, the FM04 still appears surprisingly modern and can easily be combined with both a modern and a more eclectic interior. This specimen has recently been completely refilled and reupholstered with a high-quality wool mix from Oniro in a warm ochre yellow color. The rich tone gives the armchair a striking appearance and creates a nice contrast with the slender metal frame. The renewed padding and upholstery make it ready for many years of comfortable use. The FM04 is a less common design within the oeuvre of Cees Braakman. An appealing armchair for lovers of Dutch Mid Century Modern design, with a timeless design and a timeless colour scheme.
