The name "pottery of vallauris" includes the ceramic production of workshops and factories installed in vallauris from the end of the nineteenth century. Vallauris was a breeding ground for great potters gathered in this city around the personality of picasso. At the beginning of the twentieth century, culinary pottery began to decline, competing with metal containers. Towards the end of the 1940s, an evolution gave birth to artistic ceramics. It was in 1947, with the arrival of picasso and his astonishing ceramic production made at the madoura workshop, that the image of vallauris as a traditional pottery center gave way definitively to that of a city where artists and craftsmen rub shoulders. In the early 1950s, architects and artists from schools of fine arts converged on vallauris. The new wave of artists creates in freedom, opposes all conformisms, applies the great principles of modernism where expressionist forms and mediterranean sensibility mix. Two general trends emerge, the interest in animal subjects and that for geometric decorations. 📏 dimensions: length: 22 cm / width: 16 cm / height: 5.5 cm. ⚖️ weight (excluding packaging): 550 grams.
