Hans Wegner, absolute master of the Danish chair

Hans Wegner (1914-2007) designed more than five hundred chairs in his lifetime. Five hundred. A cabinetmaker by training, a prolific designer, this Dane is considered the greatest chair-maker of the 20th century. Each of his seats is a study: the Wishbone CH24 (1949) inspired by Chinese Ming chairs, the Round Chair (1949) known as 'The Chair', the Y Chair, the Papa Bear armchair. Edited by Carl Hansen & Søn and PP Møbler, his seats became the world standard of the Danish school.

The Wishbone CH24 chair remains Hans Wegner's most emblematic piece, and one of the most produced chairs in design history. Alongside the Papa Bear armchair and Round Chair, it forms the trinity of the Danish school, to find for an authentic Scandinavian interior.
