Ingmar Relling, the Norwegian Siesta armchair

Ingmar Relling (1920-2002) is one of those Scandinavian designers who, in the shadow of the great Danish figures, shaped the identity of Nordic furniture. Norwegian, trained at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Oslo, he designed in 1965 for the publisher Westnofa the Siesta armchair: a low seat with a bentwood beech structure and tufted leather cushions, whose formal simplicity and comfort make it an instant Scandinavian classic. More than 1.5 million units produced since launch.

The Siesta armchair from Westnofa, in bentwood beech and patinated leather, remains Ingmar Relling's most recognised piece. A vintage Scandinavian seat to find for those wanting a Norwegian lounge chair of discreet but instant elegance.
