Jasper Morrison, British master of Super Normal
Jasper Morrison (born 1959) is one of the most influential designers at the turn of the 21st century. A Briton trained at the Royal College of Art in London, he founded his studio in London in 1986 and has since signed for Vitra, Cappellini, Magis, Alessi and Muji a body of work of radical sobriety that he theorises with Naoto Fukasawa under the name Super Normal: design as a return to obviousness, to the right object. His Air-Chair (1999) for Magis, Sofa sofas for Vitra, dustpans for Magis embody this doctrine. A design that is barely seen, and changes everything.
The Air-Chair Magis and Morrison Sofa Vitra remain Jasper Morrison's signature pieces. Contemporary furniture to find for those wanting a major British signature, with a discreet but essential precision.
