Miharu Goma - Japanese wooden horse

Painted wooden horse. The miharu goma have existed in japan for about 1, 500 years, they have their origin in the legend of sakanoue no tamuramaro who, during a battle, would have received the help of a magic wooden horse or one of a herd of wild horses. The original toys were carved from falls of buddhist images and they would have the ability to facilitate the transmission of messages to the gods. The mottled products may show signs of wear related to time and use.
