Period: ca. 1940. A candy box with a truly exceptional art deco aesthetic. The rectangular box has curved sides and a curved lid that perfectly follows the lines and gives a wonderful proportionality when seen in profile. The pronounced frotelle has a wing shape. The floral décor consists of stylized fuchsia and blue flowers and brown leaves. The edges and the frotelle are golden. This is an emblematic example of the work of raymond-henri chevalier (1900-1959) who worked for the famous royal boch belgian faience factory in la louvière; he was the second most important designer after charles catteau. R.h. Chevalier worked for boch between 1937 and 1954. The brand confirms that this piece is manufactured by boch frères la louvière. The model number is 1396. The décor was called "2940 decor". State: Good. Microclash on a corner of the lid (see photo) which is barely visible because it is camouflaged by the golden edge. The gilding has thinned, which is typical of these products.
