Okhli ancient carved wooden mortar with top

This okhli (also called ukhali) is a traditional mortar from the indian subcontinent transformed into a stool. Most notably, the okhlis carved in their center are specific to south india. Our craftsmen have added a tray that blends perfectly with the rest of the structure. You can also use this okhli at the end of the sofa. Oklhis are carved from the mass and are therefore very heavy! In the last photo you can see the okhlis as they are before being reworked, with their hole that allowed to receive the grain so that it is crushed with a pestle. These are ancient objects, which have been used daily in the past; they therefore bear marks of use that testify to their history.
