Lips vago triennal freestanding shelving systems

Lips is known as a producer of safes. They also designed these bookcases in italy between 1951 and 1954. This early variation of the "congresso" shelf is a modest and strong bookcase made of sheet steel with holes on the sides creating a strong graphic pattern. This early model was exhibited at the milan triennale in 1954. The model is freestanding making this a versatile piece. The metal plates in the bookcase bend upwards at the end of the shelf to function as bookends. The rack was so popular that it won the smau industrial design award in 1968. The color is very dark green.
