Magic box - malle desk - mummenthaler & meier - 1960

Trunk desk - known as "magic box" - mid-century teak magic box by mummenthaler & meier. It is composed of shelf lockers, a walnut writing tray with double lid and pull, surmounted by a shelf locker and removable lamp, a shelf and in the lower part lockers and shelves. This spacious, elegant and practical trunk desk closes with an inner latch and a key. Although it serves as an office, the magic box can also serve as a very unique haberdashery/craft workstation. Dimensions: closed - l 82 X d 54 X h 114 / open - l 165 X d 50 X h 104 /dimensions of the seat under the desk l 80 X h 63. Designer: mummenthaler & meier. Origin: switzerland. Period: 60s. Material: teak. Attribution mark: no attribution mark. There is no visible manufacturer brand, however, it is listed in the design register (mummenthaler & meier). Restoration: this magic box has been fully sanded and oiled to protect and nourish the wood. Some slight traces of claws could not be completely removed due to their depth in the wood (see photos). Condition: good condition. Weight: about 30 kg.
