Charles and ray eames originally designed it in 1958 for the private residence of an art collector in the united states. For the construction of this seat, the couple of designers abandoned the idea of the seat shell to stretch a fabric or leather panel between two side pillars, thus obtaining a firm but flexible seat. The seat adapts to the contours of the body and is extremely comfortable, even without sophisticated padding.
