Ultra rare tubular lounge chair, model 55, designed by paul schuitema around 1932 for d3, netherlands. This particular chair is original from the 1930s, so no reissue by dutch originals! Very hard to find, not many of these chairs are around anymore. This model is also part of the collection the stedelijk museum in amsterdam and the boijmand and van beuningen museum in rotterdam. It has a chrome plated tubular frame, black lacquered beech armrests and an anthracite upholstery. It still has the original springs underneath the seat and the traditional vegetable fillings (crin). Fantastic chair, very interesting for the collectors. The chairs is in good condition. The frame has some loss of chrome on the left back side (see second last picture). We treated these spots with oil for conservation. The upholstery is still good, no damages.
