Rare art deco porcelain tea service including: a teapot, a sugar bowl, a milk jug, 7 cups and 9 saucers (so a little spare in case of disaster 🙄🙈). Fine and delicate porcelain, orange, pearly iridescence and black edging, geometric appearance with its facets. Absolutely superb, in excellent condition, appears to have never been used. Victoria China factory located in Czechoslovakia, 1st half of the 20th century (the Reims Museum of Fine Arts has a cup and saucer from this factory in its collections). History of the manufacture: 'victoria' schmidt & company in stara role, czechoslovakia was founded in 1883 by lazarus and rosenfeld ltd. However, the company was sold within two years to Franz Schmidt, who would go on to give his name to the firm. Originally founded in the north-western bohemian town of Altrohlau, which was then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Bohemia was separated from Austria to become part of Czechoslovakia at the end of first world war, Altrohlau changed its name to star role. #vintage #china #tea #victoria #porcelain.
