Suitcase wicker rattan scoubidou

Charming vintage handbag that can also be used as a makeup bag, empty original pocket or simply as a decorative object... It was made in hong kong, so it is not recent because it has been a long time since we no longer produce this kind of objects, maybe from the 60s or 70s. Seeing it, you can see the wicker obviously, but to the touch, it's amazing, it's very smooth, so you take a closer look... A bit like scoubidou thread but transparent ! This is the first time I have seen such a process! Which is convenient because it protects it from moisture in case of rain. Inside, a fabric lining. The handles are made of leather, the clasp is metal, mounted on a leather strap, and there is also a leather lining of the hinges (which are metal, but which we do not see). I dusted it off carefully, although there is probably some inaccessible dust left. The bag itself is in good general condition: no broken strand, clasp and hinges are functional, the leather is still rather flexible. But it does not hide its age and the signs of use: the leather is a little worn and stained in places, and very worn at the attachment of a handle, to the point that a hole has formed (see photo). The fabric lining inside is faded, a little stained and has 5 small holes. The metal parts have lost their original gilding. And the wicker has a trail of small red spots, paint probably, a little below the clasp, indelible (at least, during my cleaning) but finally not too visible. It measures about 27 cm in length, 12 cm in width, 19 cm in height, and 35 cm in height with handles. It weighs just over 500g.
