Menorah Hanukkah Brass Chandelier by Tamar

Chandelier xl menorah hanukkah in brass by tamar, israel, 50s/60s. In excellent condition, brass gilded with fine gold. The instructions given to moses for the making of the menorah contained some references to botany. For example, we were talking about the almond tree, the first tree that flourished in spring, symbol of the rebirth of nature. The shape of the menorah, as it is represented on the arch of titus, or on the mosaic of the synagogue "shalom al yisrael" in jericho2, is inspired by a variety of sage, a very aromatic plant of the mint family that grows in judea, salvia palaestina, also called "sage of israel".
