Brass and mahogany shop window Description: Commercial showcase in brass and mahogany. It rests on four brass legs with skates, has a mahogany baseboard intended not to let anything pass under the furniture. This piece of furniture has a complete polished brass frame that frames the whole. The facades and shelves are entirely made of custom-made glass, they include 2 sliding doors "Pollards Pat" as well as 2 glass shelves. A mirror lines the bottom of the furniture to give it a beautiful effect of depth. Storage cabinet intended by its size to be placed as a counter or chest of drawers, the quality of its materials evokes a world where the accessory was treated with luxury and intended to demonstrate the durability of things. If the furniture is English, we will find there a universe – certainly fantasized – where Evolve Jeeves and Hercule Poirot or other Mrs. Dalloway ... We will also think of the "Poor Blouse" of V. Larbaud. The fashion of department stores developed in Europe from the middle of the nineteenth century according to two axes, one turned towards a consumption that is certainly not mass, the other even more elitist. Where in the past the merchant had to go in person to his customer's home, and offer him an assortment, such as the craftsman - bootmaker, tailor, etc.-, the customer comes to the merchant who makes every effort to attract him. These reports, reversed, force the latter to adapt his "store", we no longer speak of a shop ... (the very term store, of Arabic origin, also referred to a place of storage, a warehouse.) which must seduce by presenting all the possible choices between price and qualities, in a flattering presentation for the product but also for the customer. The "buy-pleasure" effect is working to the fullest. We offer you here what to store and expose your belongings or goods, when you had time to choose, not on a tablet, but by palpating, feeling, looking at the materials, when all the senses participated in an "investment".
