Armchair Office JAPY years 30

JAPY Office Chair from the 1930s. This type of model derived from Viennese modernist designs emerged in art deco period (25/30) in many European manufacturers. Simplified line, compact proportions; the feet of the seat are also the uprights on which a curved solid wood rests, which makes both the backrest and the armrests. At Japy, a small production unit dedicated to curved wood has been operating since 1910 in Fesches-Le-Châtel. His models (of which we no longer have catalogues unfortunately) are often very close to those of BAUMANN his neighbour (24 km..) with which she already collaborates in certain markets before its definitive takeover by the great chaiserie franc-comtoise in 1938. Very good condition, presence of a reinforcement sole under seat following a small repair on the veneer, clean and solid. Height 79 cm-seat: 47.5 x 45 cm, height 46 cm.
