Armchair ARP (workshop of research plastic), association of Pierre Guariche, Joseph-André Motte and Michel Mortier, circa 1950. model 641 (designed in 1955), in perfect condition, covered with a fabric grey Alcantara Pearl Edition Steiner the ARP (workshop of research plastic) founded in 1954 by Pierre Guariche, Michel Mortier, and Joseph-André Motte is the meeting of three friends and young designers. Three designers, at the founding of the group, decided to shake up the codes of classicism by drawing new forms in order to create more accessible furniture. Major pieces of the 20th century are from this new and fruitful association. We think including the series of office furniture for the Publisher Minvielle or wheelchair for Steiner. Joseph-André Motte and Michel Mortier are both from Applied Arts training, Pierre Guariche is to him a graduate of Decorative Arts. All three met while working within the Agency of the designer Marcel Gascoin. In 1954, they participate in the Salon of household Arts and realize that they have the common desire to found an association, in order to create a series of furniture desired by the Publisher Charles Minvielle. The three designers receive many awards at the end of the competition organized by the technical Centre for the wood. The principle was to design practical furniture easily finding their place in small areas. The workshop of plastic research will end in 1957.
