Large 19th century portrait, Saint Jean Eudes. Brother of the historian François Eudes de Mézeray, Jean Eudes was born on November 14, 1601 in Ri, Normandy and died on August 19, 1680 in Caen. He was a French Oratorian priest, founder of a religious institute dedicated to the training of priests. This oil on canvas is not signed. On its original key frame, the canvas is in good general condition, with traces of wear on the bottom of the canvas and some small restorations: we mainly note two restored tears, one at the bottom of the painting and the other to the left of the hands over a few centimeters (see photos).
