Minimalist Murano sommerso glass block plate

This piece is a solid, heavy block of glass. It is cast and shaped at high temperatures in geometric moulds. Sublime "fluid movement" captured: The waves of azure and turquoise colour seen in the centre are not painted on the surface; they come from pigments and metallic oxides mixed into the molten glass, which was then folded and stretched, and immediately "trapped" (sommerso) under a thick outer layer of perfectly clear crystal glass. In good condition, with some surface scratches and chips on the edges.
