Syrian marquetry box. The syrian marquetry refers to the technique of veneering or enlastanding slats of precious wood, mother-of-pearl, on a carpentry assembly. The veneer technique appeared in mesopotamia more than 4000 years ago. This box has different wood inlays bones and mother-of-pearl. It still has its red damask fabric interior in perfect condition.
