Superb vintage Basque table linen set from the 1960s-70s, comprising a large tablecloth and eleven matching napkins. Made from thick cotton with a jacquard weave, it features delicate openwork borders and beautiful geometric patterns in shades of indigo blue, white, red, and yellow. This linen is typical of mantelerías vascas (traditional Basque table linen, primarily on the Spanish side, in the provinces of Gipuzkoa, Biscay, and Navarre), characterized by a dense jacquard weave, often in cotton or linen, adorned with stylized geometric or floral motifs and colored bands of red, blue, green, and yellow, used for festive meals or large rural gatherings. In good vintage condition, 5 of the 11 napkins have minor, barely visible signs of age (rust stains?). Beautiful finish, the blue color is slightly faded but uniform on the tablecloth and napkins. See photos. Large tablecloth, 140 cm wide, 320 cm long, napkins approximately 44 x 44 cm. A blend of Basque tradition and timeless elegance, perfect for a table with a warm, folk-chic charm.
