Set of six Concerto model chairs by Elizabeth Garouste & Mattia Bonetti, made in the 1990s, from a BGH edition. This model perfectly embodies the unique language of the duo, straddling baroque and surrealism. The chairs feature a blackened wood base topped with a gondola-shaped sycamore backrest that delicately extends the silhouette. The light sycamore backrest is adorned with a bronze medallion, a characteristic signature of the model. The seat has been reupholstered in iridescent red Alpaca from Dedar. A rare set in perfect condition, fully restored in our workshop. The duo Garouste & Bonetti distinguished themselves by inventing a new baroque and barbaric romanticism. Becoming an essential reference on the international art and design scene from the early 1980s to the late 1990s, they profoundly marked their era. Their furniture stands out for its inventiveness, nonconformist character, and great subtlety. Composed of eclectic and unexpected materials, it draws inspiration from the Middle Ages and Africa while reinterpreting Venetian baroque and neoclassicism. As they themselves stated about their approach: "Our ambition is to give people a sense of freedom in the choice of forms. Good taste deeply disturbs us. What matters to us is to instil doubt. We have no rules."
