Glass salad bowl "Neverrino" by Gae Aulenti for Vistosi, c.1980

Italian work, c.1980. H 12.5 x D 27.5 cm. Blown glass and murrines. Very good condition. A transparent blown glass bowl with thick walls, where a scattering of blue-grey and orange murrines rises from the bottom and lightens towards the edge. Each disc retains its concentric eye. The slightly irregular edge is accepted as a manufacturing finish. Designed by Gae Aulenti for Vistosi, a Venetian manufacturer with which the Milanese architect collaborated from 1965 — one of the frequent transitions of figures from Italian architecture to Murano glass during this period. Compact bowl or salad dish format, conceived as an accent piece for a table or console.
