Description
Nice couple of traditional Japanese Kokeshi of Naruko style by Honda Isao and Kakizawa Koretaka. It is said that Naruko Kokeshi began in the Bunka-Bunsei era of the Edo Period, about 200 years ago, in Miyagi prefecture, when people who made a living as woodworkers in the deep mountains gave kokeshi dolls to their children. The most distinctive features of Naruko Kokeshi dolls are the way that they squeak when you turn their head and the stable silhouette of the torso.
