Stig Lindberg, large vase model Domino, Gustavsberg, Scandinavian Modern. In good condition, with minor signs of age and wear. The bottom edge has small chips. Marked: Gustavsberg, I.L.A., Domino 2. At 21 years old, Stig Lindberg managed to secure an internship during the summer of 1973, at a time when the Gustavsberg porcelain factory was on the brink of bankruptcy. It took Stig Lindberg about two months to impress Gustavsberg's artistic director, Wilhelm Kåge, and after the summer, he was offered an apprenticeship under Kåge. When Wilhelm Kåge left his position as artistic director at Gustavsberg in 1948, Stig Lindberg took over, and during his years at the porcelain factory, he designed many of the most beloved models, including Berså, Spisa Ribb, and Adam. With imaginative, colourful, and playful designs, he brought colour into homes both in Sweden and abroad. The Domino series of art objects was launched at the major international exhibition H55 in Helsingborg in 1955 and was produced until 1969. The series includes ashtrays, vases, and bowls.
