Square plate Longchamp model Beach

Seaside scene from another era, printed in a delicate blue-grey gradient on an ivory background: this earthenware plate signed Longchamp, dating from the 1950s/60s, beach model, offers a true miniature tableau. A sailing boat stranded on a shore, boats pulled up on the sand, a turbulent sky. The coastal decoration printed in very fine blue under glaze evokes old engravings. Its square shape with rounded edges gives it a rare character. The Longchamp stamp is slightly faded with the mention of the beach model and the inscription Longchamp terre de fer. Founded in 1867 in Burgundy, the Longchamp pottery has established itself as one of the great French manufacturers, renowned for its fine earthenware tableware with rustic or stylised decorations. In good condition, with nice shine, a few micro-scratches from use, a small chip under the edge, and a short hairline crack. Dimensions: 24 cm by 24 cm.
