Marble mortar and its pestle

This magnificent ancient marble mortar (at least 100 years old) has been used for many Marseille aioli. It measures in diameter inside 14 cm. it's the family model. It is offered to you with its boxwood pestle. The grey veined white marble mortar lost one of his ears in the short of his life! It weighs 6 kg. He is quite capable of returning to service and preparing aïoli, rust, anchovy... all it takes is to rub it with olive oil to restore its velvet. The pestle is very beautiful with its wear, but it can only be used for decoration. You will need a new one because the wood soaks in oil and ends up giving a rancid taste.
