Antique, lajos ( ludwig) kozma architech, baroque-art deco dining set with in lay (1922-1928) – budapest werkstätte (set of 7) Made from solid walnut and walnut root veneer, this masterpiece showcases kozma baroque style, featuring curved legs, elegant carvings, and refined detailing. Antique condition: overall good original state with minor venee. Flawless hand inlay in the middle of the table. The table can be expanded to 6 people, unfortunately the original additional table top is missing. 4 chairs and 2 armchairs are part of the set. The furniture is in perfect structural condition, suitable for everyday use. The original shellac is worn but has a beautiful patina, showing the 100 years of use. We treated the pieces with beeswax, thus preserving the patina. The removable sprung seat inserts of the kozma lajos chairs have been carefully restored. Each unit was refilled with new natural afrik fiber and reupholstered in a luxurious italian silk satin fabric — an original vintage textile from the late 1960s, sourced at auction. The result is a harmonious blend of historic structure and refined materiality, faithful to the period while offering renewed comfort and visual sophistication.
