Ashtray / Box "Clam" 8cm – Authentic Vintage 1970 – Design Alan F

For sale: a magnificent mini-ashtray (or storage box/trinket dish) in the iconic "Clam" model created by the famous British designer Alan Fletcher in the late 1960s. This iconic piece of Space Age design is distinguished by its wavy graphic lines and its two-tone organic shape. It consists of two interlocking parts that fit together perfectly. Vintage guarantee (original vintage): This is an authentic production from the 1970s and not a modern reissue. Several elements attest to this: Original materials: The base is made of injected black melamine (a heavy, dense plastic typical of the era, designed to withstand burns), and the top part features period chrome plating by galvanisation, providing a deep mirror effect. Exclusive edition: This combination of shiny chrome and black melamine is unique to the early production waves of the 1970s. The few late reissues (such as those from Habitat in the 1990s) were only produced in matte solid plastic. Rare in this condition. The plastic is impeccable, the chrome is extremely shiny and cold to the touch. No cigarette burns, no cracks, or major scratches (see photos). In accordance with certain production series of the time (notably those distributed outside of Italy), the item does not have a moulded marking under the base, but its manufacture, weight, and materials guarantee its authenticity.
