Willy Daro style – Very rare table lamp – 85 cm – Agate geode & Brass – Belgium – 1970-1979. This lot concerns a monumental and extremely rare creation of an agate lamp by the master Belgian designer Willy Daro. While most lamps from this period are modest in size, this is a rare "Large" model with a total height of no less than 85 cm. The Power of Nature: • The centre of this lamp is a huge natural agate geode weighing 11.2 kg. • The stone is about 18 cm thick, providing a spectacular depth effect and a beautiful crystalline cavity at the centre. • Unlike the thinner agate discs commonly encountered, this massive geode acts as a heavy sculptural object. Construction and Design: • The lamp is made of high-quality solid brass; the base alone weighs 2.5 kg. • The arm features the fluid and organic lines typical of Daro's work, with the brass mirror presenting the stone as if it were offered for the viewer's gaze. • The lamp is equipped with a double socket, ensuring powerful and even lighting of the crystals. Condition and Details: • Total weight: approximately 13.7 kg. • Height: 85 cm. • Condition: in good vintage condition with a lovely authentic patina on the brass. Era. 1900-2000.
