Carl Malmsten (7 December 1888 - 13 August 1972) was a Swedish furniture designer, architect, and educator, known for his commitment to traditional Swedish craftsmanship (slöjd) and his opposition to functionalism. Between 1904 and 1973, Malmsten worked for the famous NK department store in Stockholm and created furniture for prestigious clients, including Prince Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden, the Waldorf-Astoria in New York, and the League of Nations in Geneva.
