A magnificent work by the Neapolitan painter Salvatore Balsamo, dating from the first two decades of the 20th century. Oil on canvas. Gilded period frame showing small defects. Dimensions: canvas 80 X 42 cm - frame 95 X 57 cm. Salvatore Balsamo (Naples, 1894 – Naples, 1922) was an Italian painter. He was trained in his hometown with Vincenzo Irolli, Giuseppe Casciaro, and Eugenio Scorzelli, dying at the age of twenty-eight, leaving little biographical information. He distinguished himself as a landscape painter with a vigorous and spontaneous style, influenced by his masters and the work of Nicolas De Corsi. His works are preserved at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Milan and in the collections of the Fondazione Cariplo.
