Marble top table, turned fluted spindle legs, circa 1850
Marble top table, turned fluted tapering legs, France, circa 1820–1850. Structure in fruitwood stained mahogany, four hand-turned tapering legs with multiple rings, apron assembled with tenons. The rather exceptional marble top is grey veined with ochre and black, featuring characteristic fossil inclusions, including a long ochre inclusion that gives an impression of a crack in the middle — likely marble from Languedoc or the Pyrenees. The top is freely placed on the apron. Restoration style, characteristic of small bourgeois salon furniture from the first half of the 19th century. Ideal as a kitchen table or desk. Height: 70 cm. Length: 90 cm. Width: 57 cm. Homogeneous old patina on the base. The top is in good condition, with no cracks. Signs of use and traces of time consistent with its age.
