Elegant set of 8 smoked glass blown glasses, comprising 4 wine glasses and 4 flutes, handcrafted in the village of Biot on the Côte d’Azur in the 1970s. With their slender silhouettes, subtle smoky hue, and lively material, these glasses possess a very particular elegance of pieces shaped one by one: nothing is perfectly uniform, and it is precisely this that gives them their character. The smoked glass, worked by the glassmaker's hand, displays delicate variations in transparency and tone. This elegant hue absorbs and reflects light softly, giving the glasses a particular depth and a very seventies presence. These glasses are not attributed to the famous Verrerie de Biot itself. They stem from the glassmaking tradition of the village of Biot and bear witness to the craftsmanship of the various artisans and workshops that have worked there over the decades. In the absence of a signature or marking to precisely identify their workshop of origin, they are presented here as Biot glasses, without attribution to a particular house. The combination of four wine glasses and four flutes allows for the creation of an elegant and cohesive table setting, while their smoky hue, lines, and material give them a true decorative presence. A very beautiful collection for lovers of French glassware, artisanal craftsmanship, and 1970s design.
