Sublime notary's filing cabinet from the famous brand A.Jantzi, which opened its workshops at 10 rue de la Klebsau, in the Neuhof district of Strasbourg, in 1924. It then had 40 employees and prided itself on offering "brand name furniture at normal prices." It is with pleasure that we find their JANTZI & CIE logo engraved on each of the furniture's gilded label holders! Jantzis have become quite rare, especially those from this period, and are always beautifully made. Ours opens with 20 tilting flaps, which reveal, when raised, a removable drawer with a brass pull handle. This allows convenient access to all the contents. Primarily an office furniture, this filing cabinet was used to sort papers. Note the pretty upper cornice as well as the lower plinth, and all these gilded metal parts which create beautiful contrasts. Each door has its own stamped label holder, and on the sides, we find the brass screws of the mechanisms for tilting the doors - this gives it a charming industrial furniture look. It has been cleaned, but the patina is original! Very bright, it shows signs of wear usual for a century-old piece of furniture, but it is complete, solid, stable, and works perfectly at all levels. We more often come across the single-column model. This one is even nicer, as a result. Perfect for storing our current binders or files. A little extra for fans, there is a Jantzi shipping label on the back of the furniture! I had never seen one. It states the delivery address (now illegible), the word TO VERIFY and the handwritten signature of the person who checked. H: 203.5 cm. W: 90 cm. D: 37.5 cm.
