Antique jewelry box. 4 red lacquered storage "drawers" inside. Cracked effect on the outside. Very beautiful patterns. From the famous "house of bamboos" paris. A missing piece of wood on top. As is. (alfred perret founded in 1879 in paris a house specializing in the realization of furniture in bamboo and luxury basketry as well as in the import of authentically japanese objects for a wealthy and parisian clientele. Located at no. 33 rue du quatre-septembre, the house specialized in the early 1880s in the manufacture of carved wood furniture of far eastern inspiration and lacquer furniture. In 1886, the company was taken over by alfred perret's son and ernest vibert. The company became "perret et vibert" and took the name "maison des bambous" in the early 1890s. Perret and vibert, true creators of their time, participated in the universal exhibition of 1889 held in paris and won two silver medals. Following this first exhibition, they exhibited in various events: in 1894 at the universal, international and colonial exhibition of lyon and at the horticultural exhibition of the tuileries, in 1900 again at the universal exhibition of paris. The house of bamboos enjoys a reputation far beyond the borders of france. The most important figures on the world scene visit their shops and furnish their homes with the achievements of perret and vibert. Thus, empress eugènie, princess mathilde, the duke of montmorency but also vanderbilt, the japanese marshal yamagata, the queen of portugal and the king of greece george I honor perret and vibert with their regular visits and purchases.).
