Mid-Century Swiss Space Age Guggerli L1 table lamp by Rosemarie & Rico Baltensweiler for Baltensweiler, set of 2

Very rare table lamps from the Swiss manufacturer Baltensweiler based on a design by Rosemarie and Rico Baltensweiler from the 1960s. The design of the Guggerli lamps is very simple. The spherical glass diffusers rest or are fixed in a tubular body. The light spheres emerge through the cut of the tube. The body of the luminaire is here the load-bearing element and at the same time a design object. The glass spheres have a grain with variable transparency and are open at the front. The changing transparency inside the diffuser creates spatial depth within the sphere. The spheres rest freely on indentations of the tube and can thus be manually aligned. The passage of the cable through the small vertical slit at the back is distinctive. The lamps are in very good condition with signs of use and aging (discoloration and slight deformation due to heat and light).
