The whole is enhanced with a hand-gilded rim on the upper edge, adding a precious touch. The relief on the upper edge further accentuates the refinement of the whole. Signed gien – france on the reverse, this marking corresponds to a production from the second half of the 20th century, probably between 1950 and 1970. The slightly cracked appearance of the glaze, typical of many old pieces from gien, is deliberately preserved on this type of earthenware, contributing to its charm.
