Rocking chair inspired by Sam Maloof

Sam Maloof, an American self-taught woodworker and furniture designer, was best known for his sculptural rocking chairs and artfully crafted furniture with organic shapes. His work combines traditional craftsmanship with modernist aesthetics, and he is regarded as one of the most important American artisans of the 20th century. His rocking chairs are now cult objects, displayed in several renowned American museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This rocking chair is part of the White House inventory and has also belonged to American presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. Maloof received the prestigious MacArthur Genius Grant in 1985, becoming the first craftsman to receive this award. Sam Maloof published plans and instructions to reproduce his most famous creations in his book "Designing and Building Chairs (New Best of Fine Woodworking)" released in 2006. Nevertheless, high-quality replicas like this one, offered here, are very rare.
