Unlike berber carpets whose strands of wool are knotted one after the other, the kilim is a flat-woven carpet and is therefore less dense and thick. Kilim is a turkish word which means woven textile, it is used throughout the arab world where flat-woven carpets are made. Just like berber carpets, the kilim carries a very strong cultural identity and represents the tribe in which it is woven.
