Flat desk in marquetry with espagnolettes in louis XV style after the model of charles cressent which is on permanent exhibition at the palace of versailles. It probably figured in the interior apartment of louis XV at versailles in 1744. It is found in the tuileries and compiègne in the nineteenth century. It is certainly this office that was signed on june 28, 1919 in the center of the hall of mirrors the peace treaty ending the first world war. Our office presented here takes up the curves the bronzes and the dimensions of that of charles cressent of the eighteenth century. Note the beautiful quality of carving of the bronzes and the original gilding. Oak drawer bottoms and rosewood and violet wood marquetry all enhanced by an elegant brass net marquetry. Quality parisian manufacturing around 1880. Perfect condition.
